Probably the best Twitter advice I have heard

Jun 08 2011 Published by Tyron Bache under Quotes, Social Media

So that is quite a title so I guess I really need to step up and deliver something special. Earlier in the year I shared some Twitter advice for Entrepreneurs on Ideate from my own limited experience but this one point I am going to share with you is better than all 5 I shared.

I can’t claim this as my as mine, I really wish it was though, it’s so simple and when training people on how to use Twitter effectively I am probably going to start with this quote by David Perel from a GQ article.

Here’s my theory, if you can’t stand on a chair in front of 1000+ people, and shout out loud what you going to tweet, then don’t tweet it.

Nobody, if only very few, people want to see tweets like the following:

Party tweets like “Omg myself and @ @ @ @ @ are having so much fun at this exclusive party”… Get over yourselves. When people tweet when they are sick…

Now David does know what he is talking about, he has been on Twitter since 2008 and has close to 6000 followers. It’s simple really, next time you are about to tweet imagine you’re at an event with 1000 close family, friends and people whom you admire and think to yourself would they appreciate what I have to say and if not then maybe you shouldn’t say it. I am probably guilty of not doing this myself so this is a challenge to us all to make Twitter a fantastic part of our days rather than reading about someone’s latest party, sickness or blog post.

So many brilliant quotes were thrown in front of my eyes today and I would like to share them with you.

“Don’t tell me the sky is the limit, if there are footprints on the moon!”

“Edison created the incandescent light bulb after a thousand failures. Holy! Wonder at what number I’d give up? You?”

What you put in is what you get out

David and Marc Perel talking about achieving success with your blog. They say success comes from hard work, dedication, self-discipline and focus! This video is very aptly found on the about us page of their awesome video blog From the couch. I just love the question that Dave poses, “How badly do you want it?”, How badly do you want success? Rewards will come to those who work hard and as Marc says, “you can get 3 pairs of shoes and a pair of pants”. This is brilliant inspiration as in just over a week my brother, Quin and I shall be launching Smashing Web Development.
