What you put in is what you get out

May 24 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Inspiration, Video

David and Marc Perel talking about achieving success with your blog. They say success comes from hard work, dedication, self-discipline and focus! This video is very aptly found on the about us page of their awesome video blog From the couch. I just love the question that Dave poses, “How badly do you want it?”, How badly do you want success? Rewards will come to those who work hard and as Marc says, “you can get 3 pairs of shoes and a pair of pants”. This is brilliant inspiration as in just over a week my brother, Quin and I shall be launching Smashing Web Development.

pacman

Yes you can.. you can play Pacman on www.google.co.za today. This is to celebrate the 30 year anniversary on the Pacman game. This is just another reason why Google are awesome. Who ever came up with this needs a raise. I’m looking forward to more of this in the future from Google, they are truly remarkable. Go play now I’m not sure how long it will be up there for, my highest score so far is 1350.

Smashing Web Development Launch

May 20 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Video, Web Development

Smashing Web DevelopmentIt has always been a dream of mine to start my own business and I am almost there, it has been a long time coming but I am proud to announce that I shall be launching Smashing Web Development on the 1st of June 20ten. I am going to be working with my brother Quin, we both currently work together so there shouldn’t be too much to get used to. I came up with the idea for smashing on the 8th of February 20ten and finally some four months later we are almost ready to launch. Very basically we are going to be developing & selling websites as BlueBox Partners. All of this has lead me to the question of how do you launch an online business these days? What are the best tactics? Should you host an offline event? Or just keep it all online? If you have any ideas or suggestions let me know, I am keen to hear your thoughts. For now you can have a look at our teaser launch video below or you can head over to our splash page where you can follow us on twitter to receive further updates on our developments.

Jason Fried on Development

Link to the video

The points I love.

  • Most products suck because the design is bad because it can’t be good, it’s not allowed to be good and it wasn’t part of the process from the beginning.
  • Be happy with what you are building, don’t let the sales people dictate what gets created and shipped as the final product.
  • You need to have a vision for your product.
  • What sort of company are you going to be? Mediocore and just add stuff you really don’t need.
  • What do you need to say no to?
  • Cashflow will follow the integrity

You can follow Jason Fried for more of his wisdom.

“Join the worlds first artwork made by Twitter users! The artwork will later be made into a physical piece by Swedish artist Jon Holm. Tweet and get your profile pic inside the frame.”

Looking forward to this picture actually being created.

“This is an initiative from the Interactive Communication class at Berghs School of Communication.”

Just whatever you do don’t tell Ashton.

change the world

May 11 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Inspiration, Quotes

You can change the world today, now, in this moment, you have the power to be apart of something remarkable.

On your way home from work, varsity or school whether you use public transport or your own vehicle.

Smile.

Smile at everyone, get their eye contact and then just smile at them.

And see what happens..
And see how you feel in your heart and in your head..
Will something change?
Will the world start to change?
You tell me.. maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m naïve, maybe I’m just a dreamer

but

“you will never know unless you try”

Great Designers Steal – Jeff Veen

May 07 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Quotes, Video

Watch this on youtube.

“Good artists copy. Great artists steal”.

“Every so often, there’s a product that works so well, that gets technology so right, that it appears almost to be like magic, and almost immediately, competitors do these superficial… knock-offs of the features that they see, hoping that they too can cash in on that success.”

“The key here is to be intentional with what we steal, to look at what the principles are behind the things that are successful, and steal those, rather than just a superficial copy.”

Time for Tumblr

May 05 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Social Media

Yesterday I made myself a Tumblr blog. It took about 5 minutes.

What is Tumblr? A blogging platform.

According to their website:

“Tumblr lets you effortlessly share anything. Post text, photos, quotes, links, music, and videos, from your browser, phone, desktop, email, or wherever you happen to be. You can customize everything, from colors, to your theme’s HTML.”

What makes them stand out and unique? reblogging & they claim to be the easiest way to blog, which I am currently testing out.

What is reblogging?

“The same way YouTube embeds make it easy for a video to become a viral hit, the “reblog” button on all Tumblr posts allows a meme to spread rapidly across thousands of blogs with just a click. “

If you know nothing about blogging and don’t know where to start my suggestion is find a niche you are passionate about and tell us all why you are so passionate about it.

My favourite Tumblr blog right now – Adii Rockstar

My Tumblr Blog – tyronbache.tumblr.com – is very simply for music.. hardcore music. I am passionate about it. I don’t think there are many things on earth that are better than a well written and constructed hardcore song.

So don’t follow my Tumblr if you don’t like or don’t want to learn about the hottest hardcore songs. Find something you are passionate about and either follow an “expert” or become one, the tools are here for you, what are you waiting for?

Nothing is original

May 03 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Inspiration, Quotes

jim

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.”

~ Jim Jarmusch
