GTD

Mar 10 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Inspiration

What is the most important thing you have to do at the moment? why haven’t you done it yet?

Apparently David Allen came up with this saying GTD which stands for getting things done and I have been using it a lot lately to get and keep myself motivated to make sure I do all of my important tasks.

I have been battling a bit lately to make sure I do the most important things first otherwise I find that the day wears on and I end up pushing the critical task to the next day. This bad habit has come to an end and now I try to complete the most important task of my day first. This has demanded a lot of focus from me and I found some help that got me started from this cool post, use it don’t use it.

And another thing I don’t care what you say email is not the most important thing you need to get done, you can check your email, facebook and twitter accounts after you have completed your most important task of the day!

Axiom

Mar 09 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Books, Inspiration, Quotes

I had a change of pace last night and decided to leave the glare of my screen early to retire to my warm bed to open up a book, I found Axiom by Bill Hybels lying with a little dust on it on the top of my book collection. I had purchased it at last years Global Leadership Summit, it’s a brilliant event and I encourage you all to go to this years event.

Axiom is full of Powerful Leadership Proverbs, each proverb is no longer than a page or two so it makes for easier bite sized reading, they remind me of blog posts, each one unique but all inspiring and all about how to be an effective leader!

Last night I read the proverb, “Paying attention to greetings and goodbyes”, and read one quote that just stuck with me,

“Leaders have a huge bias towards action.”

Where is your inspiration coming from? Is it always coming from the same place, change the pace of your life and do something different. Are you reading anything inspiring?

fail

Mar 06 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Inspiration, Quotes

So this last week I failed, I think it has been the biggest failure on my blog so far, a simple but tragic spelling mistake of the word involved in my last blog title. What made this fail even worse was the fact that I had posted this post all over the place, like on a excessively popular blog post by Obox on my facebook page and on my personal profile.

I only noticed the spelling mistake a few hours later and I have decided not to correct it and leave it as reminder to make sure I check all of my posts before I publish them!

Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Go out and fail but please learn from it!

Get everyone envolved

Mar 04 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Business, Inspiration, Web Development

Just been inspired by something awesome the Obox bro’s did – if you haven’t seen there latest post, go check it out!

Entitled “Name the awesome. Win.” it’s already a winner of a post just because is has the word awesome in the title! But also because they have reached out to me, to you and anyone out there who can comment to get envolved and be apart of this awesomeness.

What can you win? How about a life time supply of themes, to most people that would be great but to some I think they are just after the bragging rights to say that they named an Obox theme. This is the best online competetion I have seen in a while and it’s happening right now, the deadline is the 15th of March so go comment and have your say!

There are lots of desperate entries (spam lists and lists) being posted, but I suggest go look at the preview of the theme here and think of the first thing that comes to mind. For me it was Henry.

So keen to see who wins :) well done Obox this is a brilliant example of free online marketing for an up and coming product – fun, viral and worth sharing!

of a single man

Mar 03 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Inspiration, Quotes

“Yet many of the world’s greatest movements, of thought and action, have flowed from the work of a single man. A young monk began the Protestant Reformation, a young general extended an empire from Macedonia to the borders of the earth, and a young woman reclaimed the territory of France. It was a young Italian explorer who discovered the New World, and the thirty-two-year-old Thomas Jefferson who proclaimed that all men are created equal.”

How to create something worth sharing

Mar 02 2010 Published by Tyron Bache under Social Media, Web Development

Some points to think about before you create some new content:

  • Remarkable: firstly don’t even think about sharing anything that isn’t remarkable, these days people get bored to easily so your content needs to be something worth making a remark about.
  • Specific: secondly it needs to be specific and focused on a main point, if not your audience might get confused as to what exactly they are sharing and therefore won’t do it.
  • Brief: thirdly we live in a 5 minute world, if something takes more than 5 minutes then you have lost your audience other than a really good movie of course.
  • Community: fourthly how can you expect anything to be shared if there is no one to share it with, it’s as simple as that, as Seth Godin says you need a tribe and there is one waiting for you to lead them, if you can’t find them you aren’t looking hard enough.
  • Tools: fifthly give your auidence the tools to be able to share your content, this should go with out saying but this is where you can rely on twitter and facebook.

Below is the first blog post of one of my favourite bands, The Ranks, watch it and tell me why do you think I am sharing it with you? (P.S. it’s only 54 seconds long.)
